After the massive, pan-India success of Kantara in 2022, the film’s director and actor, Rishab Shetty is all set to entertain the audience once more with a prequel titled Kantara: Chapter 1. While the filming for the same is currently underway at various coastal regions in Karnataka, a recent report claimed the shooting had been stalled following a bus accident involving some junior artist. Now, a source close to the production has denied reports of the film being stalled.
Kantara: Chapter 1 filming not stalled
Earlier today, a PTI and News18 report surfaced stating that a bus transporting 20 junior artist from the film’s sets to their accommodation met with an accident near Jadkal on Sunday night. The accident reportedly occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. As per the report, 6 of the 20 junior artist onboard sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Jadkaal Mahalakshmi Clinic for treatment. The report further noted that the team was waiting for an update about their health and hence production was halted.
However, a source close to the production has now denied all reports regarding the production of the Rishab Shetty directorial being film stalled. The insider stated, “The news making rounds is completely false. The Kantara: Chapter 1 team began shooting at 6 AM today, and everything is proceeding as normal. A minor accident occurred 20 kilometers away from the shooting location, involving a local bus carrying some members of the Kantara team. However, no injuries were reported.”
The upcoming film – starrring stars Rishab Shetty and Jayaram in the lead roles, will release on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
